River of Cars invites viewers to take part in the excesses of a rally — a dazzling emblem of speed, competition, and bravado. Reality fractures and folds around a solitary figure caught in an uncanny obsession: 'the fan'. Both spectator and participant, she is trapped in an endless loop. Brazen and humorous, she flirts with the privileged position of a perfect box seat.
In a parallel scene, this character rubs against an artwork displaced from its museum habitat with fetish-like devotion. Her body both performs the act of reverence and becomes the object of desire itself, fragmented into parts. The pleasure of transforming love into objects dissolves into a lingering sense of displacement.
