A film by Pierre Coulibeuf

In his experimental film portrait of Meg Stuart, French filmmaker and photographer Pierre Coulibeuf stages the action without pictures from her pieces. There is also no spoken language. Stuart’s choreographic research is translated into a fictional narration, whereby Coulibeuf’s film doesn’t create any logical behavior, but rather structures and mental spaces. Stuart and her dancers improvise and rework structures and material between daily life and theater at locations that are meaningful to her: in the city of Zurich, in her old apartment in Brussels and at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. These spaces in between bestow a high level of independence and intensity to the movement material. Meg Stuart’s choreographic story turns into a personal flip book that she peruses in any given direction.
