Waterworks is a collaboration between Meg Stuart and the young Zurich collective The Field, created and performed on the Saffainsel in Lake Zurich upon the invitation of Theaterspektakel 2022. Stuart is joined by her longstanding collaborators Maria F. Scaroni, Isabela Fernandes Santana and Kristof Van Boven, along with costume designer Jean-Paul Lespagnard and musician Mieko Suzuki. Together with The Field, they explore the man-made island’s shallow waters, investigating the shoreline as a threshold between nature and civilisation. With the water as their stage, the performers evoke dreamlike fictions – liberating, connective, terrifying and full of possibilities.
